The backyard at the Inn faces Quononchontaug Salt Pond, a tidal lagoon roughly the size of Central Park in New York City. Sheltered by a barrier beach, the waters of the salt pond are warmer and calmer than the ocean and are ideal for paddle sports and sailing. Rocky shorelines, grassy marshes and wide-open expanses offer abundant and diverse areas to explore. We even have acres of sandy shallows that offer ideal training grounds for new paddlers.
The Boathouse maintains a fleet of approximately 35 top-brand small boats and accessories, which guests can take out daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All boats are impeccably maintained and cleaned by staff members who will outfit you with the craft of your choice and launch you on your adventure. The Boathouse has life jackets sized infant through large adult. Use of the Inn's boats is included in your room rate. Guests at Ocean House, Watch Hill Inn and the Cottage Collection are welcome to join the fun and may charge usage fees to their room account.
